Greek Islands Travel Photos

Jul
The photos in the Greek Islands Gallery were taken during a three-week road trip on the islands in the Northern Aegean Sea, in the summer of 2016.
Here, you will find photos from Thassos Island, Lemnos Island, and Samothraki Island (2016). In the future, I am planning to explore more of this region.
A general overview of this trip can bee found at Greek Islands Travel Planning.
I work with a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX300, 20.1MP.

Paleopolis in Samothraki island bears some resemblances to Mayan civilizations. I have seen similar structures in Colombia and Peru. And the island itself seems enchanting. I would love to go there some day.
I haven’t been to Colombia or Peru but if you say there are so many similarities with Samothraki, I would love to discover these countries.
Beautiful pictures! I would’ve to visit Samothraki Island and check out Paleopolis. The ruins look really amazing! The octopus intrigues me…..How did it taste?
The octopus in vinegar is absolutely delicious. I love it!
What dreamy photos of the Greek Islands. I’ve only been to a few and would love to explore more. Thassos looks particularly stunning and I like that I’ve never heard of it before! You’ve captured the spirit and the beauty of the islands well.
Thassos is one of the favorite holiday destinations for Romanians because you can reach it in less than 24 h of drive. For us is very popular, someone else may have never heard of it.
Stunning photos! I really enjoyed looking through them-they helped with some day dreaming and wishful thinking, as I was supposed to be somewhere tropical right now. Thassos Island looks amazing, I would love to spend the day relaxing there. I love all the culture that you can see through these photos as well!
Thnak you so much for your kind words, Melissa. I hope you will soon go to that tropical place!
It is a great photo gallery! I would love to see the Greek islands. As a teenager, I was only in mainland Greece and Crete. However, Greece has much more to offer so many beautiful islands. I like your gallery of Samothraki Island and Lemnos Island most, I add them to the list of places that he wants to see.
Lemnos is one of the remotest islands and I found three archaeological sites there. Absolutely stunning !
These are gorgeous photos no wonder Greece is one of the best summer destinations. My boyfriend is partly Greek, and we would love to visit Greece and discover his heritage. These places are so romantic!
Yes, those islands with pristine waters are a paradise for couples.
These pictures are stunning. The islands seem to be the perfect opportunity to combine relaxation with history. That octopus looks to die for delicious! I didn’t get a chance to try it when I visited Greece, but you’ve inspired me to try it next time!
I love eating octopus. It is so delicious!
The Greek islands are pure magic! All these lovely pictures are causing me serious wanderlust right now. They all look beautiful and I’m taking note of everything for when the right time comes 🙂 Thanks for sharing them!
Hope you will be able to visit them soon.
Ha! I love that the nudists made shade shelters! I’ve been to some of the Greek Isles, but it was on a small ship cruise. I think we did Mykonos and Santorini and a few others. I’d love to peruse the ones you suggested – I haven’t been to any of them!
I don’t like to go on cruise ships because they never give enough time to explore the island properly. I prefer to pay more but explore them at my pace.
